Awards Ceremonies

Dear parents / guardians
Harmony Science Academy will have award ceremonies on Thursday, May 31,2018 at the following times:
6th Grade : 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
7th Grade – 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
8th Grade graduation at 6:00 p.m. Students are to arrive at 5:30 p.m.

Field Day

Attention Students and Parents,

Field day permission slips need to be turned in no later than Wednesday May 23, 2018.

Field day will be on Wednesday May 30, 2018.

GT showcase

Please join us as we showcase the hard work of our incredible students that are part of the Gifted and Talented program. The event will be held on Wednesday May 16 from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the HSA Cafeteria.

6th Grade Orientation – Incoming Students

Attention parents,

Harmony Science Academy Laredo will be hosting an orientation for all incoming 6th grade students on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. at HSA’s cafeteria. In the orientation you will have the opportunity to meet with teachers, administrators, academic counselor, and special programs coordinators.  Please plan to attend this event where the following will be shared: summer assignments, academic/non-academic club information, advance elective courses, athletic opportunities, and much more!

Examenes STAAR de Mayo 2018

Queridos padres,

Por favor, tenga en cuenta las fechas de los exámenes STAAR:

Martes, 8 de Mayo, 2018: 8° Grado Algebra-I
Lunes 14 de Mayo, 2018: 6° y 7° Grade Matematicas y 8° Matematicas Segunda Administracion
Martes, 15 de Mayo, 2018: 6° y 7° Grade Lectura y 8° Lectura Segunda Administracion
Miercoles, 16 de Mayo, 2018: 8° Ciencias
Jueves, 17 de Mayo, 2018: 8° Estudios Sociales

Todas las pruebas comienzan puntualmente a las 8:00 a.m. Los estudiantes que hayan sido suscritos por los padres / tutores después de que la prueba haya comenzado pero aún no haya terminado, no podrán completar sus exámenes en una fecha posterior. Por lo tanto, le pedimos que considere la posibilidad de programar cualquier cita necesaria para los estudiantes en otros días, así como la salud y el bienestar del estudiante si se sienten enfermos el día de la prueba. El día de recuperación para las pruebas será el miércoles, 12 de abril de 2018. Las pruebas de recuperación son solo para los estudiantes que faltan el día programado de la prueba.

Se espera que todos los estudiantes estén en su mejor comportamiento, en el uniforme escolar apropiado (sin sudaderas, sin suéteres / chaquetas, sin mantas, con camisas metidas, etc.), y deben llevar su comida a la sala de pruebas si traen su propia comida a la escuela. Los estudiantes deben dejar sus pertenencias (mochilas, Chromebooks, todos los dispositivos electrónicos y no electrónicos (teléfonos, relojes, auriculares, etc.) antes de ir a sus salas de prueba. Los estudiantes solo pueden traer un libro apropiado para leer después de que terminen las pruebas, o Trabajar en una revisión de prueba proporcionada por el maestro si son pruebas STAAR al día siguiente.

May STAAR Testing

Please be advised for May STAAR testing:

Tuesday May 8th, 2018: 8th Grade Algebra-I
Monday May 14, 2018: 6th & 7th Mathematics and 8th Grade Mathematics 2nd Administration
Tuesday May 15, 2018: 6th & 7th Reading and 8th Grade Reading 2nd Administration
Wednesday May 16, 2018: 8th Grade Science
Thursday May 17, 2018: 8th Grade Social Studies.

All tests begin promptly at 8:00am. Students who are signed out by parents/guardians after the test has started but not yet finished, will not be able to complete their tests at a later date. Therefore we ask you to consider scheduling any necessary appointments for students on other days, as well as the health and well-being of the student if they are feeling ill on the day of their test. The make-up day for testing will be Wednesday, April 12, 2018. Make-up testing is only for students who are absent on the scheduled day of the test.

All students are expected to be on their best behavior, in proper school uniform (no hoodies, no pull-over sweaters/jackets, no blankets, with shirts tucked in, etc). Students are to leave their belongings (backpacks, chromebooks, all electronic & non-electronic devices (phones, watches, headphones, etc) before going to their testing rooms. Students may only bring their lunch to their testing room if they bring their own lunch to school, a proper book to read after they are finished testing, or work on a teacher-provided test review if they are STAAR testing the following day.

Graduation Tickets / Cap and Gown

Dear HSA Parents,

Cap and Gowns have arrived!

We will be distributing cap and gowns on Friday, May 4th and Monday, May 7th in the font office lobby from 8:00 am – 9:00 am and 3:30 pm – 4:15 pm.

Graduation tickets will also be given at this time.

To give a fair opportunity to all students and their families, each student will be given 2 tickets. Extras may be purchased for $5. Please keep in mind that each student may purchase a maximum of 3 extra tickets and that tickets are on a first come first serve basis. Tickets cannot be paid for in advanced or left on reserve. Quantities are limited.
